CLIENTS ALEX GORDON

Before the Kansas City Royals selected Alex Gordon second overall in the 2005 MLB Draft, Baseball America named him the top college draft prospect, the best pure collegiate hitter, the second best collegiate 5-tool talent and the second best collegiate power hitter. After setting the Royals’ rookie record for doubles in 2007, injuries took their toll on Gordon in 2009 and 2010, but he rebounded in a big way. Following extensive offseason work and a switch to the outfield, Gordon won a Gold Glove and set a number of career-best marks in 2011, including posting a .303 batting average, blasting 23 home runs, driving in 87 RBIs, stealing 17 bases, walking 67 times and scoring 101 runs. His explosiveness on offense led to his inclusion as Kansas City’s nominee for the Hank Aaron Award. Gordon’s excellence also was seen on the field, as he led the league in putouts (312) and assists (20) while racking up a fielding percentage of .991. Born into a baseball family in Lincoln, Neb., Gordon rose to elite status during his junior year at the University of Nebraska, where he earned the Golden Spikes Award, Dick Hauser Award, Brooks Wallace Award and the ABCA Rawlings Player of the Year Award. Sweeping these honors was the culmination of a spectacular college career in which he twice was named first-team All-American and led Nebraska to Big 12 regular season and tournament titles, as well as to the school's third College World Series.
