CLIENTS JERRY HAIRSTON JR.

Jerry Hairston, Jr. is the third generation of his family to have a successful career in professional baseball. Drafted in the 11th round of the 1997 MLB Draft by Baltimore, he played for the Orioles, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers before joining the Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the start of the 2012 season. With the Brewers making a deep run into the postseason in 2011, Hairston’s veteran experience and versatile skills were on full display; in five NLDS games and six NLCS games before Milwaukee ultimately was bounced from the playoffs, Hairston showed off an impressive .385 batting average with 15 hits, four RBIs, four walks and eight runs scored. It wasn’t the first time Hairston had been brought in mid-season by a team with title hopes; in 2009, the Reds traded him to the Yankees, where he started 21 games over the season’s final two months and earned his first World Series ring. Although he spent much of his first seven years in the majors at second base, Hairston has developed into a true utility player, spending time at every position except pitcher and catcher. Hairston played collegiately at Southern Illinois in 1996-1997, where he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. In 2009 Hairston represented Mexico at the World Baseball Classic, along with his brother, Scott. His father, Jerry Hairston Sr., played 14 seasons, and his grandfather, Sam, played in the Negro Leagues before becoming the first African-American to play for the White Sox.
