CLIENTS SCOTT HAIRSTON
Over the course of his nine-year major league career, outfielder Scott Hairston has developed a reputation for late-inning heroics and consistent power. Of his 95 career home runs heading into the 2013 season, 41 came in the seventh inning or later. Those clutch performances and his versatility attracted the New York Mets, who signed Scott after the 2010 season. In 213 games for the Mets over the next two seasons, Scott drove in 81 runs and scored 72 times himself. Scott was signed by the Chicago Cubs prior to the 2013 season. Selected in the third round of the 2001 MLB Draft by the Diamondbacks, he was named MLB's Triple-A Offensive Player of the Year for the Tucson Sidewinders in 2006 before earning a permanent promotion to the big leagues with the Diamondbacks in 2007. In the middle of the season, he was traded to San Diego, where he blossomed, hitting .287 with eight home runs and 20 runs batted in over his final 87 at-bats of the season. Scott split the next two seasons between the Padres and A's and hit a combined .258 with 34 homers. He took his prodigious power back to San Diego in 2010, where he crushed 10 homers and 10 doubles. Scott and his brother, Jerry Hairston Jr., are the third generation of players to represent their family in the major leagues, and both played together in the 2009 World Baseball Classic on behalf of Mexico. His father, Jerry Hairston Sr., played 14 MLB seasons, and his grandfather, Sam, played in the Negro Leagues before becoming the first African-American to play for the White Sox.
