Bio

Joey Loperfido is a versatile utility player known for his aggressive approach at the plate and his ability to play multiple positions. He’s a contact hitter with a knack for finding holes in the defense and driving in runs. Loperfido is also a solid defender, capable of handling multiple positions with ease. His versatility and clutch hitting make him a valuable asset to his team. His baseball career started in Haddonfield, New Jersey where he played for the varsity team at Haddonfield Memorial High School. After committing to Duke University Loperfido would go on to play four seasons and reached three consecutive NCAA postseasons for the first time in Blue Devil history, reaching the NCAA Super Regional in two of those years. Loperfido was a star from the very beginning as he led the team in batting average (.315) and was named Freshman All-America in 2018. In his final season with the Blue Devils he brought home the ACC baseball championship for the first time in program history and won the MVP award for that game.

In the 7th round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft, Loperfido was drafted by the Houston Astros. He spent around three years with different minor league teams where he impressed and in April of 2024 was promoted to the major leagues for the first time. In 38 games for the Astros he had a batting average of .236 with 2 home runs and 16 RBI. At the end of July Loperfido was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays and has been in the regular rotation. Joey Loperfido is expected to have a breakout 2025 year, with his versatility and aggressive approach at bat, he has all the tools to succeed in the Major Leagues.
