Carter Young
Shortstop

A projected high draft pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Carter Young is an American collegiate baseball player for LSU. He now enters his senior year after three successful seasons at Vanderbilt, including leading the team in homeruns in 2021.

With his captivating play both at bat and in the field, Young was selected to the Newcomer All-SEC Team while finishing as a top performer for Vanderbilt in nearly every statistical
category. Despite his freshman year season getting canceled due to COVID-19, the standout shortstop solidified himself as one of the biggest stars in college baseball.

Carter Young joined the Vanderbilt program ranked as the top shortstop in the country by the Baseball Factory, and the 17th ranked player on Baseball America’s Top 200 MLB Prospect list.

As a captain for Selah High School, he led the program to two Class 2A state titles in four years, the first state championships in school history. Named the 2019 2A Washington State Player of the Year and the 2018 Washington State Gatorade Player of the Year, Young received both All-American and All-State honors in three seasons. In addition to his high school program, the shortstop won a Gold medal with Team USA at the 2017 WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup, playing as the youngest member on the team.

LSU is thrilled to be adding Young for the 2023 season, and he has only scratched the surface of his potential.
